Peary Charan Girls' High School was established on 24th of December in 1868 with only 10 students as CHORBAGAN BALIKA VIDYALAYA. It was first started in the house of Peary Churn Sircar in Chorbagan Area of North Calcutta. After the death of Peary Churn Sircar, the school was renamed as '' PEARY CHARAN GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL''. Upto 1934, it was known as ''Middle English School'' and from 1935 it got the affiliation of the Calcutta University as ''High English School''. It became a Higher Secondary School in 1959. But due to the rental building, the H.S. affiliation was lifted in 1979. It's now a Secondary School.
